Details
The reason why electromagnetic flowmeters require a lining is best explained by understanding their working principle. An electromagnetic flowmeter typically consists of a set of coils and two electrodes. The coils generate a magnetic field through which the conductive liquid flows. According to Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction, when a conductive fluid cuts across the magnetic field lines, it induces an electromotive force (EMF) that is proportional to the fluid velocity. The electrodes are used to measure this induced EMF.

In this setup, only the electrodes are in contact with the conductive liquid, while the rest of the flow tube is insulated with a lining. This insulation is crucial to ensure that the electromagnetic flowmeter functions correctly. If the section of the metal pipe with the magnetic field were in direct contact with the liquid, it would create a short circuit between the conductive liquid and the metal pipe. This would cause electrical conduction, leading to the potential being shorted out, and the electromagnetic flowmeter would be unable to measure the EMF accurately.

Therefore, the internal lining of the electromagnetic flowmeter is essential to prevent this short circuit and ensure the proper functioning of the device. This lining is one of the most critical conditions for the correct operation of the electromagnetic flowmeter.

At Huahai, we have all kinds of liner materials for you to choose.

PTFE(F4)

1.a kind of plastic with the most stable chemical properties. It can withstand boiling hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid and aqua regia, as well as strong alkali and various organic solvents. Not resistant to corrosion by chlorine trifluoride, high temperature chlorine trifluoride, high-speed liquid fluorine, liquid oxygen, and ozone.

2. Wear resistance not as good as polyurethane

3. The resistance to negative pressure not as good as polychloroprene.

120℃(Special)

1.Strong corrosive fluids such as concentrated acid and alkali

2. Sanitary fluids

FEP(F46)

The chemical resistance of FEP is similar to that of PTFE, and it has excellent chemical resistance.

100℃

120℃

(Speacial)

Same as above

PFA

The chemical resistance of PFA is similar to that of PTFE, and it has excellent chemical resistance, but its creep resistance and compressive strength are better than PTFE, and its tensile strength is higher.

100℃

150℃

(Speacial)

Same as above

Polychloroprene

1. Excellent elasticity, high breaking force, good wear resistance

2. Resistance to corrosion of acid, alkali and salt with low concentration, and not to corrosion of oxidizing fluids

Neutral and strong abrasive slurry,

coal slurry and mud

Polyurethane

1. Strong wear resistance

2. Poor corrosion resistance
